Lunch with Daddy

Sometimes, when Pete is super lucky, we bring lunch to his office!

EJ loves lunch with Daddy days! He asked every day for the rest of the week if we were having lunch with Daddy.

Aaron - Five Months

Age:
5 months old! (As of the 8th.) Can you tell he turned 5 months on a Sunday?

Stats: 
We won't know until his six month appointment, but he feels gigantic. He's in the neighborhood of 17 pounds.

Wears: 
9 month clothes and size 3 diapers. Aaron still fits in a few 6 month outfits, but he's too long for most of them.

Says:
Lots of baby babbling, cooing, gurgling, and squealing. He's laughing a lot now, which is so much fun. He also seems to have mastered shrieking at a much earlier age than EJ.

Sleeps:
Aaron's sleep has been regressing in a big way. It has not been fun! He wakes up at least twice a night, occasionally more. Last night it was four times. Hopefully he outgrows this soon, because I'm getting sleepy!

Eats:
Formula. Once or twice a day he has a five ounce bottle, and the rest are four ounces, and he has six total bottles per day. We're going to start solids soon.

Loves:
Chewing on blankets, his sleeves, and whatever else he can get his hands on. Everything goes in his mouth.
The Exersaucer! He goes bonkers in that thing.
EJ
Being outside
The Ergo. Aaron likes to spend hours every day in the Ergo.
Missy! Aaron and Missy have been becoming pals lately.
Rolling. He just started rolling tummy to back, so now he can go both ways.
Talking
Grabbing toys. Grabbing everything!
Jumping
Laughing, funny faces, and being tickled

Dislikes:
Being put down. He likes being held all the time.
Being startled
Going to sleep. Aaron talks himself to sleep every day. It's as if he's using every last ounce of energy to fight off sleep as long as possible.
Teething. He's been having a rough time lately (which may be why he wants to be in the Ergo so much), but no teeth yet.

Plays:
He loves grabbing toys, especially the crinkly sounding ones. He chews on everything.
He's really gotten into the Exersaucer lately! He jumps around so much that I'm kind of worried he's going to hurt himself.
In swings. Aaron's gone in the swings at the park a few times now, but hasn't been super impressed. Yet.

Aaron & EJ
Aaron continues to love EJ. Everything EJ does is hilarious, and Aaron just smiles and smiles when EJ lays down on a blanket with him or plays with him. It's so much fun to watch!

Face Paint

I tried (unsuccessfully) to paint a rabbit nose and whiskers on Aaron for Halloween, and apparently EJ was watching! He got his hands on the face paint, and I was about to stop him when I thought, why not? Go for it, EJ!

Watering the Roses

In the grand tradition of Horton Eugenes, EJ loves watering the roses! These roses have spent time with all four Eugenes. They were originally grown by Great Grandpa Gene at his house in Coronado. When he passed away, they were replanted in Big Creek at Grandpa Geno's house. Then they spent a little bit of time in Fresno with Uncle Kyle. Now that we have a back yard with sunshine, they came back home to San Diego.

A few weeks ago the boys and I cheered on Pete and his team, the Barnstormers, in his annual company softball tournament.

Birthday Buddies

This is EJ's buddy Drew, who has the same birthday as EJ! Drew is one year older, but they're both October 18th boys. We know Drew from Stroller Strides, and he and EJ love playing together after class. They had a particularly good time a couple weeks ago when there were wading pools to play in!

Crazy Hair

EJ managed to get his hands on some Vaseline and rubbed handfuls of it in his hair on Halloween morning! His hair was very greasy trick or treating at the farmers' market. Hopefully no one noticed it under his hat!

We put baby powder on his hair to absorb the Vaseline, and then shampooed it twice and washed it with degreasing dish soap once. It's still a little bit Vaseliney. Hopefully a couple more shampoos will help, because we have family photos later today!
