EJ is really into his plastic links right now.  They're his favorite!

Play Date

EJ and I met up with some other moms and babies last week for his first official play date.  Apparently EJ finds staring at other babies exhausting, because he slept through the majority of it.  Even another baby trying to roll over onto EJ didn't faze him. That's my kid all right.

Rolling Over

Milestone: Rolling Over!

EJ reached another milestone today: he rolled over!  He's been really close to rolling over lately, so I was prepared with the camera.

Milestone: rolling from front to back
Age: 5 months 1 week 4 days actual age (23 weeks 1 day); 3 months 2 days adjusted age (13 weeks 1 day)

Here are some pictures leading up to the big event.

Hanging out and playing with his beloved plastic links...

At this point, I was pretty sure he was going over, so I switched to making a video.  This is a very thoroughly documented first roll--clearly, he's a first baby. :)

So proud of himself!

Big Time Cutie

EJ's Grandma Bobbie sent him this onesie, and I, EJ's totally unbiased mother, think it's pretty accurate.

Still very into chewing on his left hand.

Working on being intimidating.

Five Months

A few days ago.... Okay, ten days ago, EJ turned 5 months old (12 weeks adjusted age).  He had his 5 month weight check, and weighed 13 pounds and 10 ounces.  For the first time, EJ's weight measured on the regular growth charts!  He's now at the 4th percentile for five month old babies. Catching up!
EJ still loves to kick his feet, eat his left hand, and be bounced on the exercise ball.  He started laughing a few weeks ago.  His favorite toys are plastic links.  When he's on his back, he uses his feet to scoot himself along, and he loves standing up in our laps while being held.  He's close to rolling over, but not quite there yet.  He talks and babbles all the time, and we love hearing all his funny noises.  He's a really good sleeper- he goes to bed at 10pm and wakes up between 6-8am and takes naps during the day.  Pleeeeeeaaaaase let the good sleeping continue!  He's sweet and happy and such a good baby.  We're so lucky to  have him!
Sorry for the bad shadows in these pictures.

Pushing himself up with his legs.

He's standing propped against the back of the couch.  Once he gets that balance thing down, he'll be good to go!

He likes spit bubbles.

He loves his new sunglasses from the $1 bin at Target.

Happy Birthday, Courtney!

It's EJ's Aunt Courtney's birthday today!  Happy birthday, Courtney!  EJ is happy that it's your birthday even though there is no photographic evidence to suggest it.  (He was just not in a picture taking mood today.  I guess that's what I get for waiting until the day of to take them.)  We hope you have a wonderful day, and we're so glad that we got to see you recently!

He's happy on the inside.

Downtown

On Courtney's last afternoon, we had lunch downtown and walked along Harbor Drive, where we saw lots of cool things including the USS Midway, the Bob Hope memorial, and the Unconditional Surrender statue.

EJ was awake during lunch, but didn't cry!  He's a total restaurant pro!

My favorite soda fountain ever.  It had Shirley Temples!

Unconditional Surrender.  I had to look up its actual name, because I've never called it anything but the kissing statue.  Yes, I've looked up her skirt, and no, there's nothing to see.

EJ in front of the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier, which is now a museum.

Captain America was walking around.  He's not aging so well.

Kites!  The lower one was huge.  That's the Coronado Bridge in the background.

Statues at the Bob Hope memorial, which is actually a sculpture called National Salute to Bob Hope and the Military.  Second time today I've had to look up the actual name of something.

The Botanical Building at Balboa Park

EJ is an experienced Balboa Park visitor, but he'd never been inside the Botanical Building before, so it was the perfect place to take Courtney.

EJ loves Courtney!

A San Diego style greenhouse - no glass necessary!

Orchids are my favorite!  They remind me of our wedding.

The Botanical Building is one of my new favorite places.

We saw these crazy street performers again.

Heading home.
