Baking with EJ - Pretzels

I forgot to take an after picture until we'd already eaten the prettiest ones! We made traditional salted pretzels and cinnamon sugar ones.

Dancing!

EJ dancing to Hullabaloo, the same children's singer who played at his second birthday bash!

Hullabaloo

Listening to Hullabaloo with our Stroller Strides friends!

Teagan has always been the dancer of the crew.

EJ's first popsicle!

Andrew was very curious about EJ's popsicle...

...So he had his first popsicle, too!

Being Silly

EJ will never listen to us telling him to stop doing this if Aaron keeps laughing at him!

Ball!

More Toothpaste!

Aaron - 8.5 Months

We haven't talked about Aaron in a while. So much for monthly updates!

Age:
8.5 months!

Stats:
At his six month check up, he was 19.3 pounds, but he's much heavier now! We'll get new measurements next month at his 9 month appointment. Our infant car seat maxes out at 22 pounds, so we just moved Aaron to a convertible seat like EJ's. EJ didn't outgrow the infant seat- he got kicked out of it at 18 months old when Aaron was about to be born, so it's funny to me that Aaron outgrew it in 8 months!

Wears:
12-18 month clothes and size 4 diapers. He's around a 2-4 in shoes, but it depends on the shoe. He has such chubby little baby feet that they won't fit in some shoes at all, and others have to be a bigger size (and too long for his feet) to accommodate the roundness. We mostly go with bare feet for him since it's easier and we can! Yay for San Diego weather.

Says:
Funny you should ask, because as of a couple days ago, he says ball! Other than that, lots of babbling and mimicking. He'll mimic dada, but doesn't say it without prompting. Yet. Ask me again tomorrow!

Sleeps:
He finally started sleeping through the night pretty consistently 3-4 weeks ago! Hooray! He's much happier now that he's better rested, and I'm much happier now that I'm better rested, too. Aaron's almost like a different baby now. Those brief moments of ultra happy Aaron have become the norm and he's such a fun little guy. He still fights going to sleep, but now at least he does it!
Aaron's working on a couple more bottom teeth (currently he has 4 on top and 2 on bottom) and had a couple rough nights in a row, which has made him crankier during the day. Hopefully these teeth come in soon, because this little reminder of how things were all the time until recently is quite unwelcome!
Napping is still all over the place, but Aaron usually overlaps EJ's nap for at least a half hour most days. Again, unless he's teething and then he has a strict no napping rule. Never suffer alone! He gets that from me.

Eats:
He has 5 six ounce bottles each day, but now he eats lots of other foods, too! He lives for Cheerios and is always excited to try bits of whatever we're eating. He ate pureed baby food from 6-8 months, but now that he can handle table foods, that's what he has most of the time. If it's not too hard or crunchy or dangerous and we can cut it into teeny tiny bites, he usually tries some. How much of it actually makes it into his mouth is another story, but he tries! He can also use straws and sippy cups.

Loves:
Mommy! He's still a mama's boy, but not quite as much as he used to be. He also loves pulling up on everything, walking while we hold his hands, being held, balls, being outside, dancing, clapping, and crawling after EJ. Oh, and having all the toys (and parents!) to himself when EJ is sleeping. He also loves power cords, outlets, and electronics, unfortunately!

Dislikes:
Cold bottles, the changing table, everything when he's tired, being (what he perceives as) ignored, shoes. Not going to lie... Aaron can be a bit of a tough customer! Or as I like to put it, he's particular.

Plays:
His favorite toys are his music table and this soccer/basketball sports toy we have. He also loves Sophie the Giraffe, but he's not too picky about his baby toys. He'll play with them all. Whatever his big brother is interested in, Aaron's interested in, too. And he loves balls!

EJ & Aaron
Aaron adores EJ, and they are such great pals now! Where one is, the other is. They are always together! They're already getting into trouble, together, too. The other day I made a rookie mistake- I was unloading groceries from the car and left the bags on the floor while I went back for more. When I came back, the boys were on the kitchen floor with an open egg carton between them and were crushing the eggs in their hands! They were having SO much fun that it was hard to be mad. It's so heartwarming to see how close they are right now. I hope it stays this way!

Troublemakers!

The Park

Another day at the park after Stroller Strides!

Aaron loves this huge speaker one of the instructors brings to class.

Baking with EJ - Cookies

We baked cookies again, but this time I put the mixer down on EJ's table.
He was so excited!

Test Drive

This cool stroller was handed down to us by a neighbor. We gave it a good washing and then took it out for a spin! Up until now, our only double stroller was a double BOB, which I love and adore and could not live without, but it's a little too big for places like doctors' offices and small stores. I'm so excited to have a more compact double stroller now!

Pete the Barber

I couldn't watch.

Note the lovely red glow from the plastic covering our then missing skylight.

All finished! Pete did a pretty good job!

Reading

"I can read. I turn pages. I'm reading. Reading. Reading a book."

He can't read. He can turn pages, though!

I Love You

Elephants!

"Elephants! Look elephants!"
I can't figure out that last word.

San Diego Zoo

We got a San Diego Zoo pass for Christmas (Thanks, Mom and Dad!) and we finally made our first visit back in January. We originally tried to go the week after Christmas, but it was so insanely busy that we couldn't find any parking within a mile of the zoo. There were a million other cars driving around looking for spots with us, so we gave up and went to Coronado instead.

We came back a few weeks later, it was much less busy, and we had a great time!

The boys loved this climbing tree near the koalas.
(Hi, Uncle Chris! The koalas made us think of you!)

EJ loved the elephants! They and the giraffes were his favorite animals this time.

The best way to see the zoo!

EJ saw an elephant getting its foot washed, which was fun for him because he is obsessed with having his feet washed. Whenever we clean EJ up after he eats, we need to wipe his hands, face, AND feet. Even if he's wearing socks or shoes, he still asks to have his feet wiped. It's a little strange, but he never has stinky feet!
